# Plugin to remove internal links in bulk, keeping the text

APC Editorial's **Remove Internal Links** lists every link that points to your own site inside your published posts and pages, and lets you take out the ones you want, one by one or in bulk. Only the link goes: the text stays, and you can restore it. Free, with no AI key.

- Free forever

- The text stays

- External links untouched

In short

Remove Internal Links finds the **internal links**, the ones that lead to another page of your own site, inside your published posts and pages, Elementor content included. You review the list and remove **just the link**, keeping the text, one by one or in bulk, and restore it whenever you like.

Your menu, header, footer, popups and saved sections are never touched, and links to other sites never enter the list. It is part of APC Editorial, but it works on its own, with no article generation and no AI.

The subject

## Internal links: the paths inside your site.

An internal link takes you from one page of your site to another page of the same site. It is how readers move on to the next subject, and how Google finds and understands your pages.

Google follows links to find new pages and uses each link's clickable text, the **anchor text**, to understand what the destination page is about. That is why it recommends descriptive anchors and links that help the reader. A well-placed internal link takes readers to the right content; a misplaced one only distracts them.

Over the years, a blog piles up links that no longer make sense: made for an old structure, pointing to pages that changed subject or inserted by the dozen by an automatic plugin. Before building a new structure, such as a topic cluster with a pillar and satellites, many SEO teams prefer to clear those links and start fresh.

When removing makes sense

- **Before a new internal linking structure**, so the old one doesn't mix with the new.

- **Old automatic links** that linked the same word in every text.

- **Links to pages that changed subject** and no longer deliver what the anchor promises.

- **Self-links**, which point to the very page they are on.

- **Texts with too many links**, which distract more than they help the reader.

**Remove with care.** A page that loses every internal link pointing to it becomes harder to find, for readers and for Google. The best path is to clear what gets in the way and then build the new connections between your articles.

What it does

## Find, review and clean up, on one screen.

A tab of its own, Remove Internal Links, with the Links to review list and the actions for one link or for many.

### Internal links only

Links that lead to your own site, with a full or a relative address, are listed. Links to other sites never show up on the list.

### Posts, pages and Elementor

Choose Posts and pages, Posts only or Pages only. Content built with Elementor comes along; the menu, header and footer stay out.

### Self-links flagged

The Self-link badge marks a link that points to the same page it is on, which is usually safe to remove and easy to miss.

### Find the right link

Each row shows the post, the address and the link's text. Filter by Type:, search in Find a post… and choose how many to see in Show:.

### Remove one or many

Remove link takes out one link. With Select all and Remove selected, many go at once, always keeping the text.

### Change the target

Instead of removing, Edit URL points the link to another page. Edit in bulk points every selected link to a published post or page.

No risk

## A clean-up with no side effects.

The check only builds the list. Your posts only change when you act, and every action can be undone.

- **Only the link goes:** the text stays. On an Elementor button, heading or image, the link field is cleared, and the widget and its text stay.

- **Your site's navigation stays intact:** the menu, header, footer, popups and saved sections are never touched.

- **The post date doesn't change:** removing, editing or restoring a link doesn't touch the post's modified date.

- **Restoring is safe:** if the post was edited and the plugin can't find the link's exact spot, it says so and touches nothing.

- **Clear list doesn't erase the history:** the links you already removed stay on the list, ready to restore.

FAQ

## Questions about removing internal links.

### Does removing an internal link delete the text?

No. Only the link goes; the words stay in the same place, as plain text. On an Elementor button, heading or image, the link field is emptied, and the widget and its text stay.

### Does the plugin touch links to other sites?

No. External links never enter the list. To find external links that stopped working, use the [Broken Link Checker](https://jode.io/addons-tools/broken-link-checker/), which is free too.

### Do my menu, header and footer lose their links?

No. The tool only looks at what is inside each post or page. Your menu, header, footer, popups and Elementor saved sections are never touched, and the option isn't even offered, so your site's navigation is never 1 click away from losing its links.

### Can I undo a removal?

Yes. Restore puts the link back in the same spot, and a changed address goes back to the original. If the post was edited afterwards and the plugin can't find the exact spot, it says so and touches nothing, so you can put the link back by hand.

### Does removing internal links hurt SEO?

It depends on what you remove. Links that don't help the reader, such as self-links and repeated automatic links, can go without harm. But a page that loses every link pointing to it becomes harder to find. That is why the best path is to clean up and then build the new internal linking.

### What is a self-link?

It is a link that points to the very page it is on. It takes the reader nowhere new, which is why it is usually safe to remove. The list marks each one with the Self-link badge.

### Does it work with Elementor?

Yes. The tool reads the links in text blocks and the ones behind buttons, headings and images inside each post or page built with Elementor. The list tells you when a link is In Elementor.

### Does it need an AI key or a subscription?

No. Remove Internal Links is Free forever and runs on your own server. You only need to sign in with your jode.io account, which is free.
