Getting started
# Turn on the modules

Each APC Editorial feature is a module you turn on or off for the whole site. A module that is off doesn't show up or work; once on, it gets its own tab and starts working on the WordPress screens.

## Before you start

You need to be signed in to the plugin with your account (see [Sign in with jode.io](https://jode.io/docs/sign-in-with-jode-io/)). People on Free see and turn on only the Free modules; PRO accounts see them all.

## Step by step

[![The Modules card in Global Settings: each module with its switch.](https://jode.io/static/docs/img/modules-en.webp?v=19ac4c87bd)](https://jode.io/static/docs/img/modules-en.webp?v=19ac4c87bd)
The Modules card in Global Settings: each module with its switch.

- 1
**Open Global Settings**
On the APC Editorial screen, click Global Settings at the top and scroll down to the Modules card.

- 2
**Turn them on or off**
Use the switch next to each module. The sentence under the name says what it does.

- 3
**Save**
Click Save at the bottom of the card. One card saves every module at once.

## How to know it worked

When you save, Saved shows up next to the button, and a module with its own tab appears in the plugin's menu:

- **The first 2 modules turned on become tabs at the top**, next to Projects and Editorial Planning WP, in the order of the Modules card.

- **The others go into the + Modules menu**, right after those tabs.

- **Some modules have no tab**: they work directly on WordPress screens, such as a new column in the Media Library or in the Posts list.

Turning a module off hides its tab and stops it everywhere in WordPress. What it has already done stays stored: data imported from Search Console, for example, comes back when you turn it on again.

## Free modules

They work on any plan and stay as you left them, even when the site's plan changes.

| Module | What it does | On by default? |
| --- | --- | --- |

| IndexNow | Tells Bing and other search engines whenever you publish or update a post. | Yes |

| Thumbnail in post types | A column with the featured image on the Posts and Pages lists, to see and change the image without opening the post. You choose which post types it shows on. | Yes |

| Image Converter | Converts the images in your media library to WebP or AVIF, keeping the original, and converts new ones on upload. | Yes |

| Folder Image Converter | Converts images outside the media library to WebP or AVIF, such as a theme folder or a page-builder kit. | No |

| Auto Alt Text | A column in the Media Library to edit alt text, one image at a time or many at once, and a button that lists the images still missing alt text. On PRO, it also writes the alt text with AI. | No (turns on by itself when you subscribe to PRO) |

| Rename Media | Renames an image and all its sizes, rewrites every link on the site and never changes a post's modified date. | No |

| Regenerate Thumbnails | Rebuilds every image size after you change your theme or add a new size. | No |

| Broken Link Checker | Checks the links in your published posts and pages and lists the broken ones. Nothing changes until you decide. | No |

| Remove Internal Links | Lists the internal links in your published posts and pages so you can remove just the link (the text stays) and restore it whenever you like. | No |

| Search Console | Connects your Google account, imports the data every day and shows impressions, clicks and positions for the whole site. On PRO it is called Search Console on the theme cards and shows each article's numbers too. | No |

| Conversions + Report | Notes where each visit came from (Google, ads, LinkedIn, AI…), with no cookie and no personal data, counts leads by source and builds the report with your brand. | No |

## PRO modules

They only show up for PRO accounts. On a site that was never PRO, they all turn on by themselves with the first subscription; afterwards, you turn off the ones you don't use.

| Module | What it does |
| --- | --- |

| Editorial Planning LinkedIn | The LinkedIn plans tab, to plan and write posts. See [LinkedIn](https://jode.io/docs/linkedin/). |

| Categories | The Categories tab, to manage your blog categories. |

| Schema Rank | The Schema Rank author on your plans and the complementary topics card. Only shows up with the Schema Rank plugin active. |

| Documents | The Documents tab, to download the Word files of your generated articles. |

| Link Building - AI | Finds and adds internal links between the plan's articles. |

| Link Building - Native | Keeps the links the article itself proposes and lights them up on the site once the target article exists. It never publishes a broken link. |

| Featured image - AI | Creates the featured image with AI in the posts list and the editor, on the post types you choose. |

| Add Image with AI | A tab in the WordPress media window (classic editor, block editor and Elementor) to create an image with AI and use it right there. |

| AI Cost History | The tab with the cost of each article and image, step by step. See [AI keys and costs](https://jode.io/docs/ai-keys-and-costs/). |

| Rank Tracking - DataForSEO | Each keyword's position on Google, on mobile and desktop, and whether the site is cited in AI Overviews and AI Mode. Uses your DataForSEO account. |

## When the site's plan changes

PRO modules follow the site's plan, not each person's. The site is PRO as long as at least 1 account connected to it is PRO.

- **First subscription on the site:** every PRO module turns on by itself, and so does Auto Alt Text.

- **The site stopped being PRO:** PRO modules turn off and disappear, and the plugin remembers how each one was set.

- **The site is PRO again:** each PRO module comes back as it was before, on or off.

- **A person on Free in a PRO site** sees and changes only the Free modules. PRO modules keep working for the site.

## Which ones to turn on first

| Profile | Start with |
| --- | --- |

| SEO agency or consultant | Search Console, Conversions + Report (to show the client the results), Rank Tracking (if you have DataForSEO) and AI Cost History (to bill accurately). |

| Law firm, clinic or practice | Search Console, Editorial Planning LinkedIn (if your authors post on LinkedIn), Auto Alt Text and Image Converter. |

| Blog or company | Search Console, Image Converter and Broken Link Checker. |

**Link building: pick one.** Native uses the links the article itself already proposes; AI looks for new links between the plan's articles. With both on, links are not duplicated, but the report numbers get mixed. Since the first subscription turns both on, turn off the one you won't use.

## If something goes wrong

### A module from this page doesn't show up on the card

It is a PRO module and your account is on Free, or it is Schema Rank and the Schema Rank plugin isn't active on the site.

### I turned the module on, but its tab isn't at the top

Only the first 2 modules turned on stay at the top. Look in the + Modules menu. And check that you clicked Save.

### I subscribed to PRO and many modules turned on at once

That is expected: with the first subscription, everything in PRO turns on so you can see what is available. Turn off what you won't use and click Save.
