# Projects and plans

Projects organize your work like folders: one per client, site or section, with subprojects as many levels deep as you need. Plans live inside each project, and each plan has its own generation settings.

## Projects and subprojects

A project is where the plans of one client, site or subject live. An agency usually creates one project per client; a newspaper, one project per section. Any project can have subprojects, and each subproject can have its own, with no limit on levels.

- 1
**Project** Silva Law Firm

- 2
**Subproject** Silva Law Firm › Employment

- 3
**Plan** Termination, season 1

You create and organize projects in the Projects tab:

- **New root project** creates a project at the top level. On a project's row, Create subproject creates one inside it.

- **Rename** changes the name.

- **Move** puts the project under another one (the New parent project) or back to the top level. A project cannot go inside itself or one of its subprojects.

- **Archive** takes the project out of the project switcher without deleting anything. It stays in the tree, and Restore brings it back.

- **Delete** removes the project and everything under it. See [what is kept](https://jode.io/docs/projects-and-plans/#deleting) below.

**Prefer archiving.** Moving or deleting a project carries its whole branch with it: the subprojects, the plans and the themes of each one.

## The project switcher

The switcher sits at the top of every plugin screen and shows where you are: the project's path and, inside a plan, its name. Click it to open the menu, which works like a file explorer.

[![The project switcher at the top of every plugin screen: each project with its plans.](https://jode.io/static/docs/img/project-switcher-en.webp?v=c94fb28159)](https://jode.io/static/docs/img/project-switcher-en.webp?v=c94fb28159)

- **2 tabs:** WP Campaigns and LinkedIn Campaigns. The second one only shows up with the LinkedIn module turned on.

- **Plans and subprojects:** under each project you see that kind's plans first, then the subprojects. Clicking a project opens its plan list; clicking a plan opens the plan's screen.

- **Favorites:** the star next to a project or plan puts it in Favorites, at the top of the menu.

- **Always in the right place:** the menu opens only the path to where you are, on the tab of the open plan's kind, with the row highlighted. The plugin remembers each person's last project.

- **Numbers:** on WP plans, how many articles the plan has; on LinkedIn plans, how many posts were published. A project's number does not add up its subprojects.

At the bottom of the menu, Manage projects opens the Projects tab.

## The Projects tab and the tree

The Projects tab is the overview of all your work. At the top, the numbers of all projects together, with the Total cost and, next to it, the Cost by API (what was spent on each AI service). With the modules turned on, your site's backlinks and Search Console show up too. Those blocks are explained in [SEO and performance](https://jode.io/docs/seo-and-performance/).

Below comes the Project and Subproject Tree. Each root project, with everything under it, forms one group. Each row says what it is: Project:, Subproject: or Plan:. Under each project come the WP plans first, then the subprojects. The plan's name and the Themes → link open the plan's screen.

Every row carries the same labels, always in the same order and lined up in columns:

| Label | What it counts |
| --- | --- |

| Plans | The project's plans. Click to open the plan list. |

| Total themes | All themes. |

| Pending | Themes that don't have an article yet. |

| Scheduled | Articles scheduled to go live. |

| Drafts | Articles saved as drafts. |

| Errors | Themes whose generation failed. |

| Published | Articles that are live. |

| Total cost | The AI spend, to the cent. Hover over it to see each service's amount, like a receipt. |

A label at zero shows only its outline; Drafts, Errors and Published get their colour once they go above zero. When the tab opens, only the path to the project you are in is open; Expand All and Collapse All open and close the rest.

**On Free,** the Projects tab only shows Search Console for the whole domain. Projects, plans and the tree are PRO. See [Free and PRO](https://jode.io/docs/free-and-pro/).

## WP and LinkedIn plans

A plan is an editorial campaign: a list of themes, each one a future article or post, with all the generation settings. There are 2 kinds, each in its own tab:

[![The project's plan list, with the origin, themes and status of each one.](https://jode.io/static/docs/img/plans-list-en.webp?v=86cf7f6d1c)](https://jode.io/static/docs/img/plans-list-en.webp?v=86cf7f6d1c)
The project's plan list, with the origin, themes and status of each one.

- **Editorial Planning WP**: articles for the WordPress blog.

- **Editorial Planning LinkedIn**: posts for LinkedIn, separate from the articles. It shows up with the LinkedIn module turned on. See [LinkedIn](https://jode.io/docs/linkedin/).

Plans belong to the project picked in the switcher. That's why the tab asks you to check that you are in the right project before creating one. In the New plan card, type the Plan name and click Create plan. The plan starts empty; the themes come in later, from the plan's screen (see [Themes and briefings](https://jode.io/docs/themes-and-briefings/)).

If the project already has other plans, the card also offers Also consider earlier plans (optional): the anti-cannibalization check of each new article then compares it with those plans' articles too. Think of a season 2 that must not repeat season 1.

The plan list shows, for each plan, the Name, the Origin (Empty, Generated by AI, Imported, Manual or Copied from WP), the number of Themes, the Status distribution and the dates. Under Actions: Themes → opens the plan, Rename and Delete. You can search by name and filter by origin.

## Each plan's settings

All generation settings belong to the plan, and only to it: 2 plans of the same project can have a different audience, author, category and schedule. On the plan's screen, the Plan settings row has one card per subject; each card opens a window with Save and Save & Close.

[![The Plan settings cards. The green tick shows what is already filled in.](https://jode.io/static/docs/img/plan-settings-en.webp?v=9144ad7f8a)](https://jode.io/static/docs/img/plan-settings-en.webp?v=9144ad7f8a)

| Card | What it sets | Required? |
| --- | --- | --- |

| Editorial prompt | The plan details the Prompt Jode.io uses: Target audience, Main profile and Publishing entity. Also the article's AI model, the research models, the LinkedIn summary and the service page linked at the end of every article. | Yes |

| Featured image | Whether the plan draws the featured image with AI and how it looks: model, size, format, logo and colour palette. | No |

| Field mapping | Sends a generated piece (such as the first paragraph), a shortcode or fixed text into a custom field of the post, native or ACF. | No |

| Body shortcodes | Inserts shortcodes, such as a form or a call to action, into the article body after the paragraph you choose. | No |

| Categories / Tags | The plan's default category and the tag policy. The plugin never creates a category on its own. | Yes |

| Primary author | The articles' WordPress author and, with Schema Rank active, the Schema Rank author. | Yes |

| Email | Who receives the e-mail with the article and what it says. See [below](https://jode.io/docs/projects-and-plans/#documents). | No |

| Scheduling | The slots when the plan generates on its own. See [Publishing](https://jode.io/docs/publishing/). | No |

The 3 required cards carry a red alert until they are filled in and a green check once they are ready. While any of them is missing, generating and scheduling stay locked for this plan.

### The Main profile

The Main profile says which field the content belongs to and changes the writing rules. The options are Jurídico (legal), Saúde (health), Finanças (finance), Tecnologia_TI, Marketing_SEO and Educação_Geral, or Other, with a profile you type. With the legal, health and finance profiles, the Stay strictly within the field option keeps each article on the professional side of the topic only.

### LinkedIn plans

A LinkedIn plan has fewer cards: no Field mapping, Body shortcodes or Categories / Tags, and Primary author becomes Author signature, the author whose signature closes the post.

**Changing a setting never spoils what is already generating.** The article in progress uses what was set when it started; the new value applies from the next one.

## The Categories tab

WordPress categories apply to the whole site. The Categories tab shows all of them, live, and lets you manage them without leaving the plugin: New category creates one, Edit changes the name or the Parent category, Delete removes it and View in WP opens it in WordPress. Every change applies to the whole site, as with any WordPress category.

The Articles (project) column counts how many articles the project picked in the switcher has in each category; Posts (site) counts every post on the site.

## Word documents and e-mail

Every generated article also exists as a Word file, to send to the client or keep. The Documents tab brings together every file of the project picked in the switcher:

- **WP article (.docx)**: the article with its SEO data (keywords, meta description, excerpt and internal link suggestions).

- **LinkedIn summary (.docx)**: the article's LinkedIn summary, when there is one.

- **LinkedIn post (.docx)**: the post of a LinkedIn plan.

Filter by Project, Plan type and Editorial plan, or type in Search title. The same files are also on the Word buttons of each theme card.

### The e-mail with the article

Each plan's Email card sets the message that carries the article link and the attached Word files: To, Cc (optional), Subject, Message and a logo at the end of the signature. Send a test email shows how it looks before it counts.

The e-mail goes out in 3 situations:

- **On a manual generation**, if you tick it in the Generate this article window.

- **On scheduled generations**, with the Email the reviewer on every scheduled run option turned on in the Scheduling card.

- **From the post editor**, in the APC — Email the project manager box: Send email sends it right away, and the automatic option sends it when the post is published or updated.

The e-mail never gets in the article's way: if sending fails, the article stays the same.

## Deleting a plan or a project

Deleting a plan removes the plan and all its themes; deleting a project removes the whole branch, with its subprojects and plans. It cannot be undone. The delete window has 2 boxes, both unticked:

- **Also delete the AI cost history.** Left unticked, the spend stays on record for your accounts.

- **Also delete the articles already published in WordPress.** Left unticked, they stay live on the site.

The themes' Word files are deleted along with them. The articles that stay on the site keep their origin: in the WordPress Posts list, the APC Editorial column still shows the plan each one came from, marked "(plan deleted)" or "(theme deleted)".
