Install the plugin
APC Editorial installs like any WordPress plugin: you download the .zip file, upload it in the dashboard and activate it. It takes about 2 minutes.
On this page
Before you start#
-
WordPress 6.0 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer. If you don't know your PHP version, check Tools › Site Health › Info or ask your hosting company.
-
An administrator user in WordPress. Only administrators see the plugin in the dashboard.
-
A Google account with the same e-mail as your WordPress user. You use it to sign in to the plugin after installing. Check the e-mail under Users › Profile.
-
A site that can reach the internet. The plugin talks to jode.io to sign you in and to generate the texts. Any regular WordPress hosting does this.
Step by step#
-
1
Download the plugin
Fill in the download form on the jode.io page. You get the file apc-editorial.zip. Don't unzip it: WordPress needs the whole .zip.
-
2
Open the plugin upload screen
In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins › Add New Plugin and click Upload Plugin at the top of the screen.
-
3
Upload the file
Choose apc-editorial.zip on your computer and click Install Now.
-
4
Activate the plugin
When the installation finishes, click Activate Plugin.
-
5
Open APC Editorial
Click APC Editorial in the dashboard's side menu. The screen opens on Login, where you connect the site to your account.
How to know it worked#
- The APC Editorial item shows up in the WordPress side menu.
- When you open it, you see the Login screen with the Sign in with jode.io button.
Until someone signs in with an account, the plugin stays on the Login screen only: nothing from APC Editorial shows up on other WordPress screens, such as Posts or Media. Everything appears once you sign in.
Update to a new version#
Download the new version from the same form and upload the .zip the same way, with steps 2 and 3. WordPress notices the plugin is already installed and offers to replace the current version with the uploaded one.
Nothing is lost when you update. Projects, plans, themes, articles and settings stay stored in your WordPress. Neither deactivating nor deleting the plugin erases them, unless someone turns on the option Delete all data when the plugin is deleted.
If something goes wrong#
WordPress says the file is too big
Your hosting limits upload size. Ask them to raise the upload limit, or upload the apc-editorial folder (the unzipped .zip) to wp-content/plugins with your hosting's file manager or FTP. Then activate it under Plugins.
WordPress won't activate it because of the PHP version
The server runs a PHP older than 7.4. Most hosting companies let you switch the version in their own panel; if you can't find it, ask their support.
The APC Editorial menu doesn't show up
Check under Plugins that it is active and that your user is an administrator. Editors and authors don't see the plugin.
