AI images
Two add-ons create images with AI inside WordPress: Featured image - AI makes the featured image of any post, right from the posts list or the editor, and Add Image with AI creates images for the middle of your text, in the editor's media window. Both are PRO and use your own OpenAI and Anthropic keys.

Overview#
Both add-ons follow the same recipe: OpenAI creates the image, an Anthropic model writes the alt text and the title, and the plugin delivers the image at the exact size, in WebP or AVIF. What changes is where the image ends up.
| Add-on | What for | Where it shows up |
|---|---|---|
| Featured image - AI | The image that represents the post in the blog list, on social networks and at the top of the article. | The APC Thumb column of the posts list, a bulk action and the editor (classic, block editor and Elementor). |
| Add Image with AI | Illustrations and scenes for the middle of your content, such as an image block or an Elementor widget. | The APC - Add Image with AI tab in the editor's media window. |
- Before you start: turn the add-on on in Global Settings › Add-ons/Tools and save your OpenAI and Anthropic keys in Global Settings (see AI keys and costs). Without them, the buttons show up locked.
- Articles APC Editorial generates: their featured image comes from the plan's image settings, not from this add-on. See Article generation.
- Settings of their own: each add-on has its own tab, with its own prompt, colors, logo, size, format and models, and they apply to the whole installation.
Featured image - AI#
Generates the featured image of posts, pages and other post types, old ones and hand-written ones included. Set it up once and generate it wherever you already handle the featured image.
Setting it up
-
1
Turn the add-on on and pick the post types
In Global Settings › Add-ons/Tools, turn on Featured image - AI and tick under Show on these post types: where the buttons should show up. The default is Posts and Pages. Click Save.
-
2
Set your brand
In the Featured image - AI tab, Image settings card: the Image generation prompt (empty uses the plugin's ready-made prompt), the Brand colors (one hex color per line), the Image width (px), the Image height (px) and the Logo / brand image (optional), which the generated image incorporates.
-
3
Pick the format and models
In Image format & quality, pick WebP or AVIF under Convert to and leave the Conversion strategy on Optimal. This card is independent of the site's Image Converter. Then pick the Image model and the Image quality (OpenAI), the Alt & title model (Anthropic) and, if you like, the Output language of the alt text and of any text inside the image. Click Save.
Generating the image
- In the posts list: the Generate with AI button in the APC Thumb column, or the APC - Generate Image link under the title.
- Several posts at once: select the posts, choose APC - Generate Image in the bulk actions and click Apply. Each post gets its own image.
- In the editor: in the block editor and in Elementor, the Generate with AI button sits next to the featured image; in the classic editor, the featured image window gets the APC – Generate Featured Image With AI tab.
In the window that opens, the image comes from the post title with the add-on's settings. To change only that image, open Customize this image: write in What should the image show?, or click Generate image prompt to have the plugin read the article and write the description for you. The colors, size, quality and logo come prefilled with the add-on's; a field you clear is left to the AI, for that image only. In Image name, leave it empty to use the post title.
How to know it worked
The image takes up to a few minutes. When it is ready, the window shows Your featured image is ready., with the dimensions, the file size and the format, and it is already the post's featured image. Generate again makes another one. If you close the screen before that, the image finishes by itself: reload the page in a moment to see it.
The AI original: with Delete the AI-generated original from the server after conversion on, the server keeps only the WebP or AVIF version. It saves space, but the image can no longer go back to its original file. It comes off.
Add Image with AI#
Creates an image from your description and puts it wherever you opened the media window: an image block, a gallery or an Elementor widget. The image also stays in the Media Library, to use again.
Setting it up
-
1
Turn the add-on on
In Global Settings › Add-ons/Tools, turn on Add Image with AI and click Save. It comes off.
-
2
Pick the models, language and format
In the Add Image with AI tab, pick the Image model and the Image quality (OpenAI), the Alt & title model (Anthropic), the Output language and, in Image format & quality, WebP or AVIF. Click Save.
Creating an image
-
1
Open the media window
In the classic editor, the block editor (widgets and the site editor included) or Elementor, open the media window as usual and go to the APC - Add Image with AI tab. It doesn't show up on the Media Library screen or in the posts list, which put no image into content.
-
2
Describe the image
In What should the image show?, say the subject, the scene, the style and the colors. In Image name, the file name and title in the Media Library; left empty, the plugin makes one from your description. In Image settings, adjust brand colors, size, quality and logo: what you use becomes the default for the next image.
-
3
Generate and use it
Click Generate image. It takes up to a few minutes. Once it is ready, click Use this image to put it in your content, or Regenerate for another version.
- Closed the window by accident? Open the media window again right away: the plugin shows Picking up the image you started… and carries on, without paying for another image.
- Alt text: every image comes with a name, a title and alt text, in the add-on tab's Output language. Left empty, it follows the output language of Global Settings and then the site's language.
What it costs#
Each image is billed straight to your account with each AI: the image to OpenAI, the alt text and title to Anthropic. jode.io charges nothing per image. The amount depends on the Image model and the Image quality: higher quality costs more, and Auto (recommended) lets the model decide. The alt text is short, so it costs little.
Every generated image shows up with its cost in AI Cost History. See AI keys and costs for the spending cap.
If something goes wrong#
The Generate with AI button doesn't show up or is locked
Check that the add-on is on in Global Settings › Add-ons/Tools, that the post type is ticked under Show on these post types: and that the OpenAI and Anthropic keys are saved. Both add-ons are PRO: a Free account doesn't see the buttons.
The image is taking a while
An image can take a few minutes. The featured image finishes by itself even with the screen closed: reload the page in a moment. With Add Image with AI, keep the window open; if you close it, open it again and the plugin picks the same image back up.
The image came out, but the alt text is empty
When writing the alt text fails, the image stays and the alt text stays empty, with a notice, instead of copying the title. Write it in the Media Library's APC - Alt text column or generate it again.
The image didn't go where I opened the window
Some places only accept certain file types. In that case the window says The image is in your Media Library, but this place does not accept its format.: the image stays stored in the Media Library and you can use it elsewhere in your content.
